We now have a dog!! Not a puppy, a dog. She is fully grown and approximately one year old. Her name is Sparkles and we love her!
Sparkles came in to our lives, thanks to Cari. Cari's sister found her a while back and decided to keep her. Unfortunately, her son was allergic to her, so they sent her to a friend's home until they could find her a new home.
It took a lot of convincing to let her come home with us, because she is now so far away from the kids. However, thanks to the Internet, we can send updates of her new life in CA. I've never been so happy when I found out that WE would indeed get to be her new "parents". Yippee!!

She is the sweetest dog in the whole world. We are really lucky. She loves to follow you around, sleep on your lap, and always be near. She is "potty trained" and hasn't had any accidents. She doesn't dilly-dally when she goes outside,
she gets the job done right away. She likes long walks and loves to be held when she's scared. She sleeps in her kennel at night in our room with her bed inside. She doesn't make a peep all night! Her protective side means that she barks at strangers and when people
come up the stairs. Not a bonus, but it's funny. We are hoping that by taking her to dog parks, she will get used to other animals and people and stop barking at them. She's so cute, everyone wants to stop and pet her while she is ferociously barking at them.
It's SO FUNNY because she is so small. Big bark for a little dog! At home, she is very calm, she doesn't go crazy running around the apartment. The only time she "gets excited" is when you grab her leash because she knows it's time to go outside. Or when I come home, she jumps up to my stomach level! She doesn't lick like crazy either. You can get right in her face and her tongue will never come out. She has only licked my
arm a couple times. She lets me bathe her and comb her hair with no complaints. She likes to eat her dog food out of my hand instead of her dish. She does not like to use the expensive "no spill/mess" water dish, just a bowl on the ground please. She does very well in the car and in her carrying tote.
We have only had her for a week and it has had it's ups and downs. She used to bark through-out the night. She didn't want to be in a room by herself. She also used to bark at every noise, not just people coming up the stairs. But now that she is more comfortable in her surroundings, there is less barking. We thank you Cari, and your sister's family, for letting us have this perfect little edition!

Yay for dogs! She's so cute. We started with a dog... you know what comes next, right? ;)
Oh dear. I think I might be allergic to my dogs...would you like to take them from me?! ;)
Oh she is so cute! She sounds like a really well behaved dog! I love small dogs but Jared loves big dogs he can take into the field with him. We'll see what happens when we get a house and start dog hunting...{I am biting my nails because I am afraid we will end up with a big old dog}.
Sparkles looks like she fits right into your family already! Congrats!
She seems like the perfect doggie for you guys! Glad that you have found such a fabulous addition and the name is seriously perfect!! Happy parenting!
