I love Valentine's Day. LOVE IT. Next to Christmas, it is my favorite holiday. You could probably guess why... hearts and pink! In fact, the day after Valentine's Day is probably my most favorite day because all that pink and heart stuff goes on sale!
My Valentine was sick this year. MIA. Poor guy was knocked out by drugs until 4pm. But, I still got up early and made breakfast for Janelle. Jan-Michael woke up long enough to eat half his plate and went back to bed. Now here's a breakfast Delia would be proud of: Chocolate heart-shaped waffles with strawberry syrup! Yum! I decided to make them BEFORE I found out they actually make heart-shaped waffle makers. Dang. I need one. I actually cut these babies out with cookie cutters. They had to be kind of small because my waffle maker divides the circle in four sections. So if I was to make a big heart out of one, it would break off in four pieces. Nobody wants a broken heart for Valentine's day! To make the chocolate waffles, I just added about one tablespoon of cocoa powder. Then I mixed in some chocolate chips (cut down even smaller). They turned out pretty good and tasted wonderful with the strawberry sauce.
I tried to get some carry out food from Quiznos/Baja Fresh, but believe it or not, they were closed! I've been having bad luck with restaurants being closed lately. Anyway, Jan-Michael felt so bad that I was running around town with no luck, so he got dressed and we went to the Elephant Bar- my choice. I didn't feel like getting dressed up and waiting an hour to eat a small plate of expensive food. Maybe next year =) This year I was content with just being home, taking care of my poor hubby and dining at a local goodie. Besides, he got me good gifts! haha!
And now, pictures! I think my hubby did a very good job. My favorite flowers from an actual florist (no Ralphs grocery store stems here), a box of Godiva chocolates he picked out himself, a cherry cake, and balloons (yes one says Valentine Princess! LOL). Awe, just melt my heart!
Here's my Valentine with a box of heart shaped donuts (whew, try requesting that from someone who doesn't speak English). I also got his favorite Whitman assortment and a bag of his favorite candy. Yes, we are still eating our way through Valentine's Day!

:) Remember that one year when we didn't have valentine's dates, so we got together and made cards and I think we made a big heart cookie?! How times have changed! At least we both have dates now. ;)
Yes! I made a huge Valentine cookie in foods class LOL That was really fun =) We didn't even watch the "love" movie we rented haha
