Cheering in the Wrong Section... Go Dbacks!

At the begining of the summer, I checked the Pirates schedule (Pittsburgh's baseball team) to see when they were playing the AZ Diamondbacks. I haven't been to a Diamondbacks game in years! So, I got a group together (Ellen, Stacey and Renee) and we went on the last day they were playing the Diamondbacks. It also happened to be "Free shirt Thursday" and 'College Night", which meant that we got in for $10 each (even without College IDs! YAY!) and were given a Pirates T-shirt. Way cool, I know =p According to Ellen, sitting anywhere on left field provided a fantastic view of the city. She was so right! Our seats were awesome! The stadium is right along the river's edge and you have a perfect view of Pittsburgh. Gorgeous! For that reason alone, I loved the stadium. The game- whew was it long! I'm pretty sure the Pirates and Dbacks were tied somewhere along the 7th inning and that lasted until the 12th! 12 innings! Probably the longest game of my life. Towards the end of the 11th, I decided I was bad luck for all AZ teams. I mean, after the Cardinals lost, how could I show my face around here if the Dbacks did too? So, I got up and left! It worked! Suddenly bases were loaded and I was back in my seat as the runners were rounding home plate. Hooray! They racked in 5 runs at the end and we were out of the park just after midnight. It was very strange for me to be opposing the home team for once- in their actual "arena" that is. When everyone stood up and cheered, I stayed in my seat. When I was clapping, people were booing. It was quite the experience!

Hey, I was actually watching that game! I never watch sports, but I happened to be at my dad's cabin this weekend and he was watching the game. Of course, it wasn't as late for us because of the time difference. I should have looked for you in the stands!

The trick is to not be overly enthusiastic when you're in someone else's stadium. They outnumber you...There's been many a time that I've wanted to go punch a Chicago fan in our stadium.
