What Would Women Do Without Men?

I feel I have become a very independent woman. I’ve lived in California now for a total of about 3 and a half years. That’s 3 and a half years with no family and none of my long time friends. So when something has gone wrong, I’ve had to take care of it.

And yet I still find myself saying, “What would we do without men?”

Something as minor as a windshield wiper coming off can throw you. As determined as I was, it wasn’t good enough. I think I spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out how to put the dang thing back on. Yes, when you have the package and have to put them both on, it’s a tad bit easier. But I had nothing to go from. Finally, I gave in and called my Fiancé. He put that wiper back on in a matter of seconds with brute force, since the little buger had been bent. Seconds! Sure I probably could have taken matters in to my own hands and driven to Auto Zone. But there’s just something about knowing you can be taken care of and not have to go deal with business service men. It is times like these that I feel so defeated and yet so thankful.

This thankfulness goes even beyond Jan-Michael who has gladly taken on the new load of Krysta’s car problems, apartment repairs, and damsel-in-distress moments. It goes to my guy friends who have set up electronics and rescued me from a broken down car. To my future Father-in-Law who constantly checks everyone’s car, repairs what's handed to him, and can build you a house! To my Step-Dad who gladly stepped into 3 ladies lives to reach dishes that were too high, open jars that were too tight, constantly fix cars - including a money pit Plymouth. And finally, the man who has come to every call of a flat tire no matter how far away I am, reacts to every tear of distress, and moves my life from state to state- my Dad.

Now I know there are ladies out there who can do all this and more. Be proud of your self reliance! I however, will be first to admit my weak potential at such a status. They don’t call me a princess just because I like Disney. The men in my life are my knights in shining amour. God bless you all!

:) That was sweet. Jan seems like he takes good care of you! It is true that women can do a lot of things these days, but it sure is nice to have a man around to take care of the things that either aren't easy for us to do, or that we simply don't like to do. And it's equally nice for them to have women who do things for them that aren't easy or appealing. I am so thankful that my husband does all the yardwork and doesn't expect me to do any of it because Lord knows I don't like to sweat! ;)

We'll always be grateful when people do things for us that we can't do ourselves. But don't sell yourself short. I think if you had to you could do just about anything.
