A week and a half late Happy New Year! Goodbye '09!
I don't know about your household, but we were happy to see 2009 end. In fact, we were celebrating the end of 2009, not the ringing in of the new year 2010!
I had to work a half day on New Year's Eve and we were worried about leaving with all the Rose Bowl traffic. The streets started shutting down at 8 and the sidewalks at noon. Yes, there were people lined up for that parade at noon! Luckily, I had no problems leaving the Pasadena office. In fact, it was very weird that there was no traffic at all! Not when I left work, or when we went to pick up Erinn, or when we went to dinner, or when we headed back to Pasadena. Did everyone stay home this year or what?! Lucky me!
2010's theme: Bringing glitter back. We made sure we had on sparkly tops and glitter make-up. Who says you can't still wear glitter in your twenties??? It's way too fun to be put away once you're "grown up".

Erinn, Jan-Michael, Janelle and I had dinner at Olive Garden near our apartment. Then we went home, got glittered up, opened a bottle of champagne and toasted to East Coast midnight! Happy New Year! Then we headed out to Pasadena. Obviously, since most of the exits/streets were closed already, we had to maneuver around
street blocks and people. We drove to the end of the parade route, just to see how crazy it was and whether or not we would bother going in the morning... It was already lined up with people! I heard it was one of the busiest years ever. Anyway, we parked and walked a block or so amongst the parade patrons to our destination: Neomeze club. Fortunately, it was
an older crowd- not a ton of drunk college kids. Plus it wasn't a huge place, so they only let so many people in which made it less crowded. At midnight they passed out champagne and dropped balloons. Admission price: $20, Water that comes in a glass bottle: $8, Watching some nerdy guy drop it low with Janelle: Priceless! We all had a fantastic night! The next day, I made a huge breakfast. Belgium waffles, cheese eggs, turkey bacon, and raspberry loose leaf tea. Erinn stayed the night, so we just ate and watched movies all day. Seriously! Unfortunately, I also clogged the kitchen sink with tea leaves... Oopsie! Not to worry though, the plumber came the next day =)
We had fantastic weather all weekend long. It was 80 degrees, which meant we were outside enjoying the sunshine. I really don't remember if that is typical for a January in CA. I was pretty shocked though. Must be the adjustment from moving from the snow... Honestly, we've had fantastic weather since New Years! I'm kind of sad though. I really didn't get to wear my sweaters for very long. Apparently, this year
has been the best snowy winter Southern PA has seen in decades. Instead of the usual inches, they are measuring by feet! I'm really sad I'm missing out on that prettiness. We moved one winter too soon. Thanks for the pictures Ellen!
