Reading Reading and Gone With the Wind

I've read a lot of books.... a lot. I wasn't a big reader when I was young until I grew obsessed with the American Girls series in fourth grade. After that I probably read as much as everyone else. But really, my crazy book reading didn't start until I moved to California. Besides working at Disneyland, I had a second job which consisted of me sitting in a glass box waiting for eager mall movie goers. Suddenly I was able to go through book after book after book, filling my empty hours of sitting with speed reading. This sparked a greater bond between my Aunt Carrie and I as we learned we were reading much of the same books. She has now passed on a bag full of books to me. I am eagerly trying to read them all to catch up to her, while still indulging in my Kinsella, Card, Austen, and Rowling crazes. My point is that although I have read a ton of books who all deserve their own blog post, including some that I have read even after creating this blog, I just can't dedicate the time to go through them. If this was a book club blog, maybe I would indulge in boring you all =p

I'm sure you know, but if you didn't, Gone With the Wind is my most favorite movie. All time best. I love it, love it, love it. Yes this means I've read the book, but I still enjoy the movie better. Perhaps because Scarlett is easier to love on film (unbelievable as it may be, but if you've read the book, you'd understand). This particular post is really dedicated to those who also love GWTW. I have great news for you!! There is a book that matches the charm of GWTW! Pick up Candle in the Darkness by Christian author, Lynn Austin. I promise, you will love Caroline more than Scarlett. Really, I'd place her closer to Melanie than Scarlett. It was wonderful. Civil War drama, love drama, family drama, slave drama, and yet full of faith and strong will. Thanks Aunt Carrie for yet another great introduction to a fabulous book. I'm going to go watch Gone With the Wind now =)

Happy reading!
